This part-time position involves managing the daily operations of the Group Fitness Department and is responsible for developing and maintaining our Group Fitness programs to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.

The Role:

GFM at our Home Club Clarkson (15 Hours)

Purpose:

The primary role of the Group Fitness Manager is to be responsible for the rostering, recruitment, supervision, training and all associated management of the group fitness department at Clarkson. This will also include being the champion of any fitness-related products and programs such as S Connect 8/12 Week Challenge, Myzone, S Balance, Surge Cylcle, Les Mills, Freestyle GX, at Surge Fitness and any other programs that may be introduced into the business.

In addition to teaching 3 member experience classes per week as part of the allocated hours, the Group Fitness Manager will also have the opportunity to teach additional classes across all Surge Fitness locations.

The Group Fitness Manager will also be responsible for achieving budgeted revenues and cost lines, and also overseeing all relevant systems and procedures are adhered to as per company guidelines.

A high level of computer literacy, excellent communication skills and competence in social media management are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational responsibility for the Group Fitness Department at Clarkson.
  • Develop rapport with members and respond to feedback.
  • Drive member experience and engagement by interacting with members.
  • Recruitment, mentoring and training of Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Development of the Surge Fitness Group Fitness Timetable
  • Promote and develop Surge Fitness programs and member events.
  • Follow all Surge Fitness policies and procedure.
  • Teach member experience classes to drive member participation in club.
  • Management of daily and weekly reporting systems, stock takes and performance reviews.
  • Social media content and feedback for the Group Fitness department

Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching Group Fitness programs (including Les Mills, freestyle, functional, kids)
  • Previous leisure / fitness management experience an advantage
  • A sound knowledge of Fitness operations, including regulatory requirements relating to Group Fitness.
  • Good written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate staff whilst working as part of a team.
  • Must be able to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • First Aid & CPR.
  • Cert III/IV Fitness
  • Fitness Registration.
