- 12–15 hours per week

Join a growing Port Melbourne gym that values real coaching, high standards and coaches who want to learn, lead and make an impact.
Part-time
12–15 hours per week initially
Coach people, not just workouts
Momentum Performance Training is growing, and we are looking for a high-quality Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our team in Port Melbourne from October 2026.
This is an opportunity to coach inside a boutique facility where session quality, individual attention and genuine member relationships matter.
You will work with busy professionals, former athletes, weekend warriors and everyday people who want more structure, better coaching and meaningful progress from their training.
We are looking for someone who can do more than create energy in the room. You need to be able to observe, communicate, adapt and help every member feel like they are receiving real coaching.
The opportunity
The role will initially involve approximately 12–15 hours per week, with regular weekday evening availability essential.
The successful coach will help us:
Support our growing membership.
Add coaching capacity across Small Group and Semi-Private training.
Cover planned staff holidays.
Provide additional coverage during maternity leave.
For the right person, there is an opportunity to build an ongoing role and take on more hours and responsibility as Momentum continues to grow.
What you will be doing
Coaching strength and conditioning sessions in a Small Group environment.
Managing individualised programs within our 1:4 Semi-Private sessions.
Demonstrating exercises and providing clear, useful coaching cues.
Adapting movements for different abilities, injuries and training histories.
Helping new and less-confident members feel comfortable in the gym.
Building strong professional relationships with members.
Managing session quality, safety, flow and engagement.
Recording attendance and important member notes.
Assisting with opening, closing and general facility standards.
Communicating closely with the Head Coach and coaching team.
You may be a strong fit if you:
Care about the quality of your coaching, not just the intensity of the session.
Can connect with experienced athletes and nervous beginners.
Are reliable, punctual and prepared.
Notice the member who needs help without waiting to be asked.
Can manage several people without making anyone feel overlooked.
Understand when to progress, regress or change an exercise.
Communicate clearly and professionally.
Receive feedback without becoming defensive.
Take ownership of your responsibilities.
Want to keep developing as a coach.
We value qualifications and technical knowledge, but we are equally interested in your character, judgement and ability to work with people.
Essential requirements
Certificate III and IV in Fitness, Exercise Science degree or another relevant qualification.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Experience coaching strength training, personal training, group training or semi-private sessions.
Sound understanding of exercise technique and training principles.
Australian working rights.
Ability to commence during October 2026.
Experience coaching busy professionals, former athletes, hybrid athletes and an ability to coach the room, adapt programs and engage members.
