FITREC Update - Melbourne lockdown

The Metropolitan Melbourne & Shire of Mitchell are now back in Stage 3 lockdown. Potentially for 6 weeks.

For Trainers and Gyms in the affected areas, this means (via the DHHS website)...

From 11:59pm Wednesday 8 July 2020 if you live in metropolitan Melbourne or the Shire of Mitchell:

  • Indoor sports centres including gyms, training facilities and pools will be closed.
  • Community sport training and competition cannot occur within metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. If you live in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, you cannot attend or participate in community sport elsewhere.
  • You can only exercise or undertake sporting activities outside with one other person or household members. You must be able to keep 1.5 metres distance between yourself and others.
  • Some outdoor sport facilities will be closed. Personal training outdoors can occur but with a limit of two participants, in addition to the instructor.

Coping during this time can take its toll on all of us.

How we view this period can be instrumental in how we pull through. The following paragraph is from this article in the NY Times. I found it useful, I thought you might like it as well.

This is something we can all do during the pandemic: imagine how we want to feel on the day it’s over. Psychologists find that looking to the future shifts our attention from the mundane “how” of our days to the meaningful “why.” Having an emotional target to aim for can give us a purpose and help us manage bouts of anxiety and frustration.

Stay safe and please let us know if we can help in any way.
